Игорь Растеряев: Иж Планета

Игорь Растеряев. Иж Планета. Разказ.

A warm wind was flying оn the field,
walking, snooping and then
This wind flew in through the window and whispered to me about.
Very many dusky guys just tonight
as screaming by Turkic, they’re coming to us so as to hack at all of us.
I’m only fifteen but I’ve smelt death and powder,
I cut away a human head as easy as a sunflower hat.
Don’t risk fighting against these kids in a sabre battlefield,
I striked alone against twelve.
They’re just appeared far away,
Their dusky leader has animal grin.
What do you forget on the river
That named the Free Medveditsa!
You must cover yourself in the battlefield
By my own child’s perception
I’m singing to you in Russian,
But I can sing in Turkish if you want!
Come closer, guys, let’s go!
I’m wholly openhearted as though bare.
My lance is my round loaf.
Who has gaped — that will be dead at once!
Hurra-hurra-hurra-hurra — kor!
I’m hearing Turkish screaming.
Now that braggart will be
striked down in his head by my steel sabre!

Google Earth: Rome looks amazing

Google has just pushed out more 3D buildings for Rome, Italy, and the result is a stunningly realistic 3D city. For a great example, here is St. Peter’s Basilica and Piazza in Vatican City:

You can also view historical landmarks such as the Colosseum, which is another amazingly detailed 3D model:

To see the buildings for yourself, simply search for “Rome, Italy” in Google Earth and make sure that you have the 3D Buildings layer turned on. You can also use this KML tour that Google has created to show off some of the best landmarks.

Shortened URLs generated by Google Maps

Feature in Google Maps that automatically generated a Short URL (aka URL Shortner) to link to any page on Google Maps. This quickly became one of our most popular experiments, and today we’re excited to announce that we have graduated the Short URL into an official feature of Google Maps.

Starting today, when obtaining a link to a Google Map using the ‘Link’ button on the upper right-hand corner of the page, you now have the option of obtaining a convenient, shortened link by clicking on the ‘Short URL’ check box. Shortened URLs can make it easier to coordinate events and share maps with your friends.

Click on the link button to create a Short URL for a location

All  take advantage of Google’s recently announced g.co shortening service. We only use g.co to send you to Google web pages, and only Google Maps can generate a g.co/maps URL. This means that you can visit a a g.co/maps shortcut with confidence, and always know you will end up on a Google Maps page.
